Mending Roots is a grassroots humanitarian nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families in Ukraine during times of crisis founded by Nastia Vanyukevych. Ukraine is the place where she grew up, where her roots run deep, and where many of the people she cares for deeply still live.
Since the beginning of the war, Nastia has remained in close contact with people on the ground, witnessing firsthand how rapidly needs change, how one day brings the need for food, shelter, and medication, and the next demands impossible decisions about evacuation, caring for elderly parents, protecting animals, or rebuilding a life amid ongoing uncertainty and loss.
Mending Roots was created to respond quickly and compassionately to these evolving needs by providing direct, flexible assistance where it is most urgently required.
While Mending Roots team deeply respects the vital role of larger humanitarian organizations, they believe there are moments when personal connection and direct advocacy make the greatest difference. Through Mending Roots, they are honored to stand beside families facing profoundly different challenges, helping ensure they have the resources and dignity to make the best possible choices for themselves and their loved ones.
Our team holds immense gratitude for the generosity, trust, and kindness of those who support this work. Every act of giving helps restore stability, hope, and a sense of being seen during this critical time.
